Meet Cindy

In 2016, Cindy was elected to her first term as a State Representative and has spent her time in Topeka fighting for fully-funded public schools, access to affordable healthcare, domestic violence reform, and commonsense policies that keep Kansas moving forward.

Key Legislative Accomplishments:

- Voted to add over $500M to public school funding during 2018 session after years of massive underfunding due to Brownback.

- During the disastrous Brownback experiment, joined with other advocates and walked from Shawnee, KS to the Capitol in Topeka TWICE to draw attention to the severe under-funding of public schools.

- Consistently voted against vouchers that would unconstitutionally divert public funds to private entities.

- Became certified as a substitute, working  in local elementary, middle and high schools when not in session in the legislature.

- Co-Founder & Leader of the Women’s Bipartisan Caucus which worked in a collaborative, bipartisan fashion to end the disastrous Brownback experiment

- Advocated & voted for a bill expanding mental health care for the state.

- Advocated & voted for legalization of fentanyl test strips to prevent accidental poisoning.

- Worked with a bipartisan group to pass Medicaid Expansion in the House (then-Gov. Brownback vetoed the bill).

- Championed effort to allow candidates to use campaign funds for childcare needs.

- Introduced HB 2621 which made it a crime for law enforcement to engage in sexual relations with detainees while on the job.

- Introduced SB 35 which eliminates criminal & extends civil SOL for childhood sexual abuse cases.

- Introduced HB 2614, the UBER Safety bill which prompted the company to add a feature to their app to ensure customers connect with a verified ride vs. imposters.

As a 20-year resident of Johnson County and mother of three, Cindy is passionate about investing in the future of our community. For too long, far-right extremists have focused on partisan policy experiments rather than what’s best for our State. Cindy represents Overland Park and Lenexa with pragmatic solutions that support opportunities for our residents, a strong business environment, and a stable future for our children. Learn More >>
